Izzat Zaid, a resilient individual who overcame the challenges of ADHD during both undergraduate and her postgraduate studies.
Izzat earned a First Class Honours in her Bachelor’s Psychology degree and continued her Masters in Clinical Psychology.
Behind her academic achievements, however, were emotional battles, including burnouts, emotional breakdowns and depressive episodes that come and goes.
Throughout her studies, Izzat learned that prioritizing emotional well-being and seeking help are crucial. In her talk, she will share strategies for resilience during postgraduate studies, especially for those with ADHD, based on her personal experiences.
Izzat’s story exemplifies the strength of the human spirit, offering inspiration and guidance to others facing similar academic and emotional hurdles.
Join us this 23rd September to discover how Izzat thrived academically while embracing neurodiversity, proving that resilience knows no bounds.
“Hi, I am a lecturer by profession, and a strengths-supporter, solutions-creator, and thesis-whisperer by vocation. My hobby is finding adulting and productivity hacks for ADHD neurodivergent brains.
My passion is nurturing PhD students and supporting early-career academics. I have been blessed being able to spend 10 years (and counting!) supervising PhD students. In those 10 years, I’m grateful to see the successful completion of 8 PhD students, 5 Masters research students as well a dozen coursework-based Masters students and their Final Year Projects (FYPs).
Along the way, I sometimes share my supervisory practices with other supervisors through training workshops and webinars. As a lifelong learner of positive psychology and an informal practitioner of gratitude and mindfulness.
I believe that a growth-mindset is essential to develop and enhance our strengths and talents, overcome weaknesses and foster resilience.
Thanks to Allah for these blessings, I graduated in the top 5% of my Masters class at UKM, and passed my PhD at University of Melbourne with a minor correction of adding one small footnote in my thesis, and my external examiner’s recommendation for the Chancellor Prize. (Which I didn’t get – but it’s okay, it’s not my Rezki)
In this sharing session, I share my neurodivergent hacks, tips and advice from my dual perspective as a former PhD student and a current PhD supervisor.”
Don’t let ADHD hold you back from achieving your dreams and goals.
🎁 Bonus: Recordings of the sessions are available as special option.
Join us at the ADHD Postgraduate Success Stories & Strategies Meetup and take the first step toward a brighter future.
